Painesville Schools Mobile WiFi at Woodlawn Homes

Beginning Wednesday, April 22, Painesville City Schools is providing WiFi access to students via school vans equipped with mobile access points. Multiple vans will be positioned throughout the city, Monday through Friday, on a regular schedule.

These mobile access points have a range of 500 feet, and can support about 100 devices at a time. Students who do not have reliable internet access at home can access this service, download their work from their online classrooms, complete that work off-line (if necessary), then upload completed work to their online classroom when the vans return. Students who cannot access the signal from home may move closer to the van to position themselves in range of the signal, as long as it is done safely and social distancing guidelines are observed. The white school vans will be clearly marked.

Please note that this service is intended to support student learning. We ask that the service is not accessed for any other purposes, as capacity is limited. Streaming sites such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. will be blocked.

The following is the schedule of times and locations for each stop:

8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m- Heritage Middle School and Elm Street Elementary School

11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.- Harvey High School and Morley Public Library

3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.- Brentwood Apartments and Seneca Grove (formerly Argonne Arms) Apartments

6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.- Maple Elementary School and Woodlawn Home Apartments

Again, this service will begin on Wednesday, April 22. If there are any future changes made to this schedule, they will be communicated.

Thanks to generous donations from Avery Dennison, Lifeline, Grand Rock Exhaust Solutions, and Catalyst Ministry for making this service possible.
